TALLER DE ESCRITURA CUNEIFORME

     Would yo like to become a Mesopotamian scribe? How to write your own name in cuneiform letters? If you are at the library with Lola, you are in the right place to know all these curiosities from the past. Learning the most ancient writing that archeologist and historians have discovered: the cuneiform prints, from Mesopotamia, more than five thousand years ago. You will need only some clay and little sticks and follow the simple instructions from the teachers, and that is all. Good luck, scribes!

PROMOVIENDO LA LECTURA PARA LOS MÁS PEQUEÑOS

      "Cuanto antes empecemos con la promoción de la lectura, tanto mejor". Así piensan nuestros profesores de Primaria, Piluca y Javier. El colegio La Asunción ha organizado un importante proyecto para promover el hábito de la lectura entre los alumnos de 5 años.El proyecto consiste en la compra por parte del colegio de un libro para cada alumno, así como un cuadernillo de fabricación propia con el que deberán trabajar todas las semanas. Estos libros están a disposición de cada alumno y cada semana se intercambian dos libros entre los alumnos (martes y viernes). Éstos deben ser leídos por un alumno o por un familiar a dicho alumno, de esta forma se incentiva la lectura y aumentan las relaciones padre-hijo. Más tarde, el alumno deberá hacer un trabajo sobre el libro que ha leído, indicando su autor, el título de la obra y qué es lo que más le ha gustado realizando un dibujo sobre ello. Este nuevo proyecto comenzó tras una reunión con los padres explicándoles dicha actividad así como su puesta a punto el 1 de febrero. La actividad está teniendo un gran éxito entre todos los alumnos. Con ella se fomenta la lectura entre los más pequeños, así como se incentivan otros valores como pueden ser el compartir, cuidar y respetar el material de clase. Una vez terminada la actividad se les entregará a los alumnos su propio libro para que continúen con este creativo hábito de lectura.

                          

PREHISTORY WORKSHOP AT THE LIBRARY

Everything prepared for this charmig workshop (or at least this is what the teacher expected)

The oldest human preserved tool: choppers and chopping tools, created by Australopithecus and Homo Habilis in Oduwai, a couple of millions ago. 

      The students from Social Sciences has put in practice a different way of learning prehistory. Why don't we learn how the old lithic tools were created using not hard stones but soft potatoes?

      This method is not unusual in some history faculties, and it is a very attractive way to get used to terms like chopper, chopping tool, bifaz, levallois technique and other useful tools from our ancestors. On the other hand it shows that this old techniques are not at all a simple break or clash of a couple of rock, and that the prehistoric mind was quite more intelligent and smart than what we can expect in a first sight. For this lesson, the library offered us the best means to achieve our goals: books, computers, wide tables and a permanent exhibition on evolution that includes skulls, different kinds of rocks and stone copies from ancient tools. A nice experience to be repeated as soon as possible for other students. 

LAS MAESTRAS CANTERAS DE LA BIBLIOTECA

    El taller de manualidad que funciona en la biblioteca en el recreo de primaria ha estado bastante ocupado diseñando una muestra de estilos artísticos internacionales, empezando desde la Edad Media. Nuestras "maestras canteras" dedican su tiempo a hacer ladrillos, diseñar arcos, y construir nuestras fachadas sobre las paredes más próximas a la biblioteca. Nuestro objetivo, desarrollar románico, gótico, islámico, renacimiento, barroco y neoclásico. Ya veremos hasta dónde nos da el curso y las cartulinas.
